The Administration of the Charter School of Excellence

Dr. Nick Viglione, Chief Educational Officer, received his B.S. in Psychology (Edinboro University), M.S. in Counseling Psychology (Gannon University) and Ed.D. in Education Leadership (Nova Southeastern University). He holds certifications in Guidance and Administration and a PA letter of eligibility. Dr. Viglione has been working with Urban students for the past twenty-three years. He is a national trainer for Education and Treatment Alternative and the Life Space Crisis Intervention institute. He is a published author and recipient of the 2006 Arnold Goldstein Humanitarian Award.

Dr. Renee Gordon, Principal, received her B.A. in Spanish and Marketing and M.S.Ed. in School and Agency Counseling at St. Bonaventure University. She has completed certifications in School Counseling, English as a Second Language, and Educational Leadership.  Renee received her Ph.D. in Organizational Learning and Leadership from Gannon University after conducting a research study on the Bhutanese refugees in the area. Additionally, Renee is an adjunct professor in the doctoral program at Gannon University.  Dr. Gordon has worked in the district since 2004 and she received the Staff Member of the Year Award at the Charter School of Excellence in 2007.

Chris Primavere, Principal, received his B.A. in Criminal Justice from Mercyhurst College. He completed his educational Leadership and k-12 Principal Certification Program through Edinboro University. He is completing the requirements to receive his letter of eligibility for Superintendent also through Edinboro University. Chris has been involved with the Charter School of Excellence since its inception and was a member of the initial development team in 2003. He has worked for Perseus House for his whole professional career and was the 2010 recipient of the Spirit of Goldstein Humanitarian Award.

Dan Hanas, Principal,obtained a bachelor’s degree of arts from Gannon University in 2002. He then began working for Perseus House’s Shelter and Alternative Education Program for three years until beginning at the Charter School of Excellence in 2005. Since then Dan has acquired his Masters in Educational Leadership from Edinboro University and completed his Principal K-12 coursework. He has received the Charter School of Excellence’s Staff Member of the Year twice during his service to the organization.

Christopher Fortin, Director of Pupil Services/School Psychologist, received his B.S. in Psychology and Criminal Justice (University of Pittsburgh), M.Ed. in Educational Psychology (Edinboro University of PA), and Ed.S. in School Psychology (Edinboro University of PA). He has certifications in School Psychology and is a Nationally Certified School Psychologist (NCSP) through the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP).  . He completed his educational Leadership and k-12 Principal Certification Program through Edinboro University, and is completing the requirements to receive his letter of eligibility for Superintendent also through Edinboro University. He is active member with the Erie County Collaborative Systems Integration team. Chris has been an employee of Perseus House since 1996.
