The Charter School of Excellence is dedicated to helping all students achieve academic excellence regardless of their situation.   If you know of any families struggling with homelessness, we are here to help.  Below are some links containing information to help students persevere through their period of homelessness.  If you have any questions please contact our  Homelessness Liason:

http://www.education.state.pa.us/portal/server.pt/community/homeless_education/7491 The main purpose of the Pennsylvania’s Education for Children and Youth Experiencing Homelessness Program is to make sure homeless youth have access to free and appropriate public education while removing barriers that homeless children face.

http://homeless.center-school.org/ One of the main goals of the Pennsylvania’s Education for Children and Youth Experiencing Homelessness Program is to help each homeless student have a school life that is as regular as possible during the period of homelessness.

http://center.serve.org/nche/:  Funded by the U.S. Department of Education, the National Center for Homeless Education (NCHE) serves as the Department’s technical assistance and information center for the federal Education for Homeless Children and Youth (EHCY) Program.

The Laura Wilkinson Memorial Fund provides grieving parents financial assistance for funeral expenses after a child’s death.

http://www.shelterlistings.org/city/erie-pa.html :  Shelter Listings is dedicated to serving the homeless and low-income.  We have listed out the shelters and low cost housing services we have in Erie, PA below. This list has homeless shelters, halfway houses, affordable housing, etc. The database consists of over 3,000 listings and includes emergency shelters, homeless shelters, day shelters, transitional housing, shared housing, residential drug alcohol rehabilitation programs and permanent affordable housing.
