Erie County Conservation District

CSE students went to the Erie County Conservation District to learn about the dynamics involved in how streams work and why it is important to keep our waterways clean. The indoor stream table showed the students how a stream would act in various situations. The students were allowed to become environmental engineers in order to find solutions to problems like flooding and erosion. Outside the students investigated the water quality of the headwaters of mill creek. They tested the stream for turbidity, pH, phosphates and a few other parameters associated with water quality.

First Annual Art Auction

The Science and Art department combined forces to create the SAA (Science & Art) fund in order to raise money for new equipment for the school including a new pottery wheel and some much needed glass ware for the science lab.  On April 21, 2015, the Skills Center hosted its first annual Art Auction.  A lot of student ark work, including paintings, ceramics, drawings, and poetry were on display and available for purchase via a silent auction.  There were also some very fine pieces donated by the renowned Artisan Art Teacher, Ms. Lisbeth Burnett, as well as a handmade quilt crafted by Skill Center’s own Lynne Linhart.  Other members of the CSE community helped out by donating money, working the auction and bidding on one of a kind treasures.
