Nurse's Office

The Charter School of Excellence Nursing Department works within the regulations set forth by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing to meet the school health mandates outlined by the State of Pennsylvania to support a level of wellness ensuring students have the opportunity to achieve maximum benefit from their educational experience. Through education, prevention, and early intervention the Health Services Department works collaboratively with school, community, and families to foster the student's ability to become a healthy, productive adult.

NOTES FROM THE NURSE

CSE asks that the guidelines below be followed to protect our students and staff from exposure to illness and to provide a safe and healthy learning environment. Please keep your student home if they have any of the following:

Temperature of 100° F or higher within the last 24 hours.

The student must be fever free for 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medication to be able to return to school.

Vomiting or diarrhea within the last 24 hours

The student cannot have any vomiting or diarrhea for 24 hours before they can be sent back to school.

Persistent coughing, runny nose, congestion (stuffiness), fatigue (extreme sleepiness), and/or body aches (unless symptoms are allergy related)

Pink Eye or suspected pink eye.

Signs and symptoms of pink eye are redness of the eye, itching, excessive discharge from eye (especially at night after sleeping).

Students will need to see the doctor and have a note from the doctor stating he/she can return to school.

If a student has been diagnosed with Strep Throat, they will need to be on antibiotics for 24 hours before returning to school.

A rash where the cause is unknown.

REMEMBER:

During cold and flu season, the most effective way to stay healthy and stop the spread of illness and/or disease is by washing your hands. Please make sure to remind your child to wash their hands frequently. Especially after covering their nose/mouth when coughing/sneezing, after touching their face, and before and after eating. Thank you for helping the nursing staff to keep CSE healthy.
